Job Description

InterCommunity, Inc. is a growing, progressive, non-profit community health center with almost 40 years of experience in the community.  We’ve been the grateful recipient over the past several years of numerous local and national awards for the innovative services we provide, and we were recently named a Hartford Courant/Fox CT Top Small Workplace Award winner for the SEVENTH consecutive year!

We are currently recruiting REGISTERED NURSES to work full-time for our Detox program.  (2nd and 3rd shifts available).  These individuals will: 

  • Provide triage service and admission for clients struggling with substance abuse issues
  • Provide nursing care to assigned patients
  • Evaluate care administered by para-professional and non-professional staff, and provide guidance and instruction to improve specific areas of care
  • Assume leadership in developing methods to improve general standards of care
  • Administer patient treatments and instruct other staff in performing treatments when indicated

Job Requirements

To be considered for this position, an applicant must meet the following requirements: 

  • Current Connecticut RN licensure
  • Psychiatric and medical nursing experience
  • Interest in working with clients struggling with substance abuse issues, within the scope of a short-term detoxification program
  • Positive attitude, pleasant, cooperative, compassionate
  • Reliability
  • Ability to be assertive
  • Ability to remain calm, productive and focused under stressful conditions
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor with clients, families and fellow employees
  • Strong judgment
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong, current computer skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
