Job Description

An experienced counselor who possesses knowledge about substance abuse treatment. Trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques used to address issues, including depression, addiction and substance abuse, suicidal impulses, stress, problems with self-esteem, and grief. Counselor’s work with individuals, families, and groups to address and treat client. Works independently with weekly supervision, is capable of directing and motivation clients toward abstinence and sobriety through specific avenues of treatment. This individual will supervise clinical team in all aspects of treatment planning.

  • Supervises clinical team in all aspects of treatment planning.
  • Provides training and orientation to all new clinicians and interns.
  • Develops and leads in-service trainings with the entire team.
  • Provides clinical supervision to the assigned team of clinicians, residential counselors, care coordinators, and residential support specialists.
  • Appropriately assesses client treatment needs and provides treatment recommendations.
  • Provides individual and group counseling using evidence based techniques.
  • Coordinates treatment with other providers to ensure best client care.
  • Ensures appropriate aftercare plan for all assigned clients.
  • Takes a lead in managing crisis situations on the unit.
  • Documents in the clinical record according to requirements of the regulatory agencies.
  • Follows and oversees the utilization review process.
  • Leads and participates in program improvement initiatives.
  • May be required to transport clients in personal or Agency vehicle
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

Knowledge of case management principles and procedures; knowledge of and ability to apply quality standards, procedures and protocols; knowledge of social, cultural, economic, medical, psychological and legal issues which influence attitudes and behaviors of patients and families; knowledge of and ability to apply clinical therapeutic models of client care with emphasis on interdisciplinary team approach; ability to work in a cooperative and collaborative manner as a team member with agency associates as well as external teams and family members; strong interpersonal skills and oral, written and computer communication skills; ability to learn specialized client care applicable to work assignment; ability to listen and provide empathetic assistance to clients and families in meeting their needs and carrying out prescribed treatments; ability to develop therapeutic relationships with clients, and their caregivers; ability to respond to emergencies; ability to respond to and seek supervision; ability to analyze and evaluate proper care and treatment.

License in Human Services Field (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LADC).
